House CH73

Key Fact: A retaining wall that splits the site into two levels, creating a 30-meter drop, led to the conceptualization of the house as a transparent cantilevered volume, featuring open views and a clear distinction between served and servant spaces.

Location. Ciudad de México, México

Year. 2022

Casa CH73 transforms regulatory and geographical constraints into a sustainable design solution. Covering 1,023 m², it complies with a 5-meter setback from the federal reserve and overcomes a 30-meter elevation difference with a 20-meter cantilevered structure projecting over the ravine.

A steel frame, supported by three concrete walls anchored with geothermal piles, holds the residence while generating energy and providing interior climate control. Additionally, a biodigester system treats wastewater for irrigation, and a rainwater harvesting system supports the regeneration of local flora.

Inside, protected and ventilated facades optimize natural light and airflow, framing open views toward the canyons. The flexible layout allows for spatial adaptations based on the evolving needs of its occupants.
